eTrays are available in four different sizes
The
Standard eTray has a deck size of 54 x 29cm (just
over 21 x 11 inches), which is large enough for most laptops.
You may need a different size if you have an extra
large machine, or if you want a laptray for use with your wireless
keyboard
and
mouse
set.
Because
of this there are three eTray sizes to
suit different sized laptop computers and, for media centre
users, we have one designed specifically
for use with wireless keyboard/mouse combinations.
They
all do the same thing – provide a comfortable, cushioned platform
for your computer equipment, but now you can choose exactly
the size you need for your equipment.
How
to choose your eTray size
When
choosing eTray sizes there are two things to think about. The
first is whether the eTray will be large enough
for your equipment; the second is how much room you need to allow
for your mouse.
The sizes shown below are for the flat, usable area of the tray
deck and do not include the frame which extends about three millimetres
above the surface level of the deck. It is possible to allow your
laptop to overhang the frame, but to avoid problems with overheating
it is important
to ensure that the airflow underneath the machine is not restricted.
The
amount of room required for a mouse depends on your personal
preferences and the type of applications you use.
My suggestion is to allow an absolute minimum of 150 mm for this
purpose – 200
mm should be adequate for everybody. It is possible to operate
a mouse in a much smaller space by adjusting the pointer speed
settings and by learning to scoot the mouse.
You
can choose your deck design in any of the following sizes from
the eTray Gallery page.
Standard
(£33.95). This is the original
size for eTray that we started
manufacturing back in 2004. Its 54
x
29 cm deck
is best suited to a 15.4 inch
widescreen
laptop or smaller, but we have heard of people who use
them happily with 17” machines.
HD
(£39.95). This is the same construction as
a standard eTray, but the deck
is extended to 59cm x 34cm. This provides room for machines
with 16" or larger
HD screens.
XL(£44.95). At
67cm x 36cm this is a very large platform for larger machines
up to and including HP’ s 20.5" desktop replacement.
Le
Plank (£39.95). A standard eTray,
extended to 69cm x 29cm to allow plenty of room for a wireless
keyboard and mouse.
The construction is the same as for the other trays, but the shield layer
is left out to avoid interfering with the very weak radio signals
that come from these devices.
Le Plank is ideal for use if you have a home cinema, or if you use a
media centre PC in bed.
